Introduction
Magnificently situated in historic old Marblehead and overlooking the entrance to its picturesque harbor, this Victorian-era home has been fully restored to offer the very best in bed-and-breakfast accommodations: superb water views with private baths, TV, telephone, air conditioning and king-sized beds. Common amenities include a sitting area with fireplace, kitchen, and roof deck with dazzling ocean and harbor views.
From the spectacular sunrises and sunsets, from winter storms to summer yacht races and the year-round comings and goings of the lobster boat fleet, there is always something happening to remind you that you are in a very special place; and the quaint shops, wonderful restaurants and historic sites of Marblehead are all within a few minutes' walk.
Our immediate neighbor is Fort Sewall, built in 1742, whose guns sheltered the USS Constitution during the War of 1812. (Oceanwatch was honored to host Admiral Jay Johnson and Admiral Hal Gehman, Chief and Vice-Chief of Naval Operations, and their wives during their visit to the USS Constitution on Marblehead in July, 1997.)
You will be pampered with a continental breakfast of fresh croissants and muffins from our local bakery, cereal, juices and fruit, with tea and fresh-ground coffee; most guests choose to enjoy breakfast at the individual tables on the roof deck, which affords breathtaking views to Gloucester and Cape Ann.
Oceanwatch received its first guests on October 11, 1996. From the beginning the reaction has been overwhelming: one German visitor wrote that Oceanwatch is the "best place of the world".
